About The Role

We are looking for an experienced editor that is passionate about telling great stories that perform well online. The ideal candidate is familiar with how to identify and chase down a good story, has a passion for guiding and supporting writers to do their best work, and has relationships with a diverse and talented stable of freelance writers and photographers that can help bring great stories to life. This is a remote, work from home position.

Core Roles & Responsibilities

• Work with the managing editor to build an exciting, new space vertical on the writing team
• Work with managing editor, freelancers, and publishing team to execute the editorial strategy
• Develop and edit stories from freelance talent
• Review performance of written content and use those insights to help shape our broader editorial strategy and develop new and exciting content formats

Qualifications & Characteristics

• Passion for journalism and storytelling
• Experience covering all things space - this includes the new space economy, geopolitical space race, and space science
• Ability to juggle multiple projects in fast-paced setting
• 3+ years of experience editing and managing writers
• Talent for identifying great stories that perform well online
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to be proactive
• Positive, can-do attitude
• Openness to feedback and challenge
• A desire for continuous learning and improvement
